ABOUT SUE, THE OWNER

Nine years ago I came here alone, a single woman, and fell in love with Umbria and especially Monteleone and Podere Vigliano. I made this my home and after lovingly restoring my 250 year old farmhouse, I share it with you. I want you to experience the beauty and love I have here. I hope that you will also feel the transformative spirit that I have by living in this blessed land. The landscape is magnificent but most of all the Umbrian people exude the beauty, warmth, and pace of the land. The more time spent here, il profumo di vita “the scent of life” engulfs you, and you will understand why people here enjoy life more than imaginable. When I first came to Umbria after the end of my long marriage I felt so renewed and my spirit so free that it seems I could do and be anything in Italy. You can too!

Currently I share my time between Benicia, California and Monteleone d’Orvieto, Italy. My two beautiful children are now grown and their own people at 24 and 23 years old, but we enjoy meeting up with each other on various parts of the globe. I have lead many specialty small tour groups at my farmhouse and love to explore the countryside and bring my discoveries to others. I am an avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast who believes anything you do outside is always best. Hence, life in the Italian countryside suits me perfectly.
